Let’s talk about a wedding photographer for just a minute.  I personally feel, as probably many will agree, that your wedding photographs may just be one of the most important aspects of the wedding planning.  At the end of the day, the cake will be ate, the dancing will be done, the favors given away — but the wedding photographs, the memories, will last a lifetime.

That is why I feel that your wedding photographer should be chosen with great care.  Take time to research, look at the artists’ works, and decide what you want to get out of the pictures.  Many photographers nowadays have online galleries you can browse through, complete with testimonials.  If the photographer you’re interested in doesn’t have a digital gallery available, you can always ask to see their portfolios — most will be more than happy to share.

With all artists, every photographer has a slightly different style to their work.  Make sure you chose one that will take the photographs you desire, as well as one you like and can communicate easily with.  Perhaps you’d like more black and white photos than color, or photos that have a lot of lighting effects.  Be open and honest with your photographer, and make sure the things you’re hoping for can be done.  Ask about photo proofs, wedding package specials, and availability, as well as a photo schedule for your big day.

Finally, don’t be afraid about the cost of a photographer.  This is one area of the wedding not to get cheap on.  Remember, this is your special day and you will want the photographs of all the special moments to cherish forever and ever!

P.S. Ladies…I also recommend arranging a wedding boudoir session (sexy shots of you in your bridal best), with your photographer!  It will make a wonderful surprise gift for your husband — but more on that in another post…
